You Are The Universe Experiencing Itself
Awakening to the Infinite Connection Between You and Reality
Two young fish are swimming along one morning, headed off to fish school. An older fish swims past, nodding warmly, "Morning, boys! How's the water?" The younger fish exchange a puzzled look before one finally whispers, "What the hell is water?"
It's a deceptively simple parable, humorous yet profound, because we're exactly like those young fish. We spend our lives immersed in something fundamental, something so deeply part of us that we can't easily see it. And just like water to fish, consciousness is to humans.
But what if this consciousness isn’t something our brains produce, but rather, something our brains tune into—like an antenna picking up invisible waves? What if you aren't merely a separate being, but a localized expression of the entire universe experiencing itself?
The Big Idea
Here's the powerful revelation that reshapes everything:
You are not just a body with a mind. You are the universe itself, temporarily localized into a human form, experiencing itself from your unique perspective.
You are consciousness observing itself, reality unfolding within and through you. You're simultaneously the observer, the observed, and the actor—engaged in a perpetual, exquisite dance of cosmic self-discovery.
The Breakdown
Fish Made of Water Swimming in Water
Consider the fish. They’re born from water, composed primarily of water, existing entirely within water. Yet the water itself remains invisible to them. They see it as separate and external only because they've never known anything else.
In precisely the same way, we humans are formed from consciousness, exist within consciousness, and are inseparable from consciousness. Yet, because it's the very medium of our existence, we overlook it. We mistakenly perceive ourselves as separate entities swimming through a strange, external reality.
We rarely stop to consider that consciousness isn't something that we possess; it is fundamentally what we are.
We are fish made of water swimming in water.
From Materialism to Idealism: A Shift in Understanding
Traditionally, science tells us consciousness arises from complex brain chemistry. This is materialism: you are essentially a biological machine, your thoughts and experiences mere products of electrochemical reactions.
Yet cutting-edge science, quantum physics, and ancient philosophical traditions offer an alternate perspective: idealism. Consciousness doesn't emerge from matter. Rather, matter emerges from consciousness. Your brain is not generating awareness—it's receiving and translating a universal consciousness, just as a radio receives signals from invisible waves.
In other words, your personal experience isn't isolated; it’s connected to something far larger, a universal consciousness of which you are a unique expression.
The Surfer Made of Water Surfing the Waves
Let me share a personal moment that brought this truth vividly to life.
I took a surfing lesson in Costa Rica a few years back. During practice, standing on dry land, I struggled. My body felt rigid, my thoughts anxious and analytical. Then I remembered the wisdom of surrender. Why am I trying so hard?" Why not just relax and be fully present, neither fearing failure nor desperately seeking success?
So, I started to let go of thinking. That practice translated into reality. As the first wave I have ever tried to surf in my entire life I simply did not think. I let go completely. Suddenly, effortlessly, I found myself upright, gliding across the water. The thrill of success startled me into thinking again, and I promptly tumbled into the surf.
That afternoon became a meditation in conscious surrender, balancing effort with ease, presence with action. I rode waves, fell, and rose again—each wave an opportunity to experience unity with the ocean, each moment an awakening to being both the wave and the ocean itself.
Like the fish made of water swimming in water, we humans are like surfers on a vast ocean of consciousness made of the exact same substance we are surfing.
Quantum Insights: The Observer, The Observed, The Actor
Quantum mechanics tells us reality doesn't exist in isolated fragments. Everything arises from a unified quantum field, an interconnected tapestry of potential and actuality.
Federico Faggin, the brilliant quantum physicist, captures this beautifully:
"Each of us is simultaneously the observer, the observed, and the actor."
This isn't poetry; it's physics. At the deepest level, the universe is a self-observing, self-interacting entity, continually shaping and reshaping itself. Your consciousness isn't separate from reality—it's a unique point of focus within the universal field.
You aren't an isolated being looking outward at a foreign world. You are the world looking at itself, learning about itself through your eyes, your thoughts, your feelings.
Practical Takeaway
Grasping this profound truth changes everything about your everyday life. You become acutely aware of your interconnectedness, your inseparable link with all existence:
Challenges are no longer obstacles but waves inviting you to find your balance.
Relationships become opportunities to encounter yourself in another form.
Life itself transforms from a struggle for control into a graceful collaboration with the universe.
Realizing you are universal consciousness means recognizing you have access to infinite wisdom, creativity, and resilience. You're never alone, never disconnected, and always consequential.
Closing Thought
Return once more to those young fish, who finally awaken to the presence of water—both around and within them. Now imagine yourself awakening similarly. Suddenly, you recognize you were never separate, never isolated, never merely human.
You are infinite consciousness itself—profoundly interconnected, powerfully consequential.
This is your invitation to awaken: step into your true identity and realize the universe is experiencing itself uniquely through you. Surf the waves of reality consciously, joyously, and powerfully. You are not just in the universe—you are the universe experiencing itself.

Not for Everyone. But maybe for you and your patrons?
Hello Jade,
I hope this finds you in a rare pocket of stillness.
We hold deep respect for what you've built here—and for how.
We’ve just opened the door to something we’ve been quietly handcrafting for years.
Not for mass markets. Not for scale. But for memory and reflection.
Not designed to perform. Designed to endure.
It’s called The Silent Treasury.
A sanctuary where truth, judgment, and consciousness are kept like firewood—dry, sacred, and meant for long winters.
Where trust, vision, patience, and stewardship are treated as capital—more rare, perhaps, than liquidity itself.
The 3 inaugural pieces speak to quiet truths we've long engaged with:
1. The Hidden Costs of Clarity Culture — for long term, irreversible decisions
2. Why Judgment, ‘Signal’, and Trust Migrate Toward Niche Information Sanctuaries
3. Why many modern investment ecosystems (PE, VC, Hedge, ALT, spac, rollups) fracture before they root
These are not short, nor designed for virality.
They are multi-sensory, slow experiences—built to last.
If this speaks to something you've always felt but rarely seen expressed,
perhaps these works belong in your world.
One publication link is enclosed, should you choose to start experiencing.
