I knew my sister was pregnant before she did.
It came to me in a dream—vivid, undeniable. She was holding a baby boy. The name came, the face came, and the feeling was so certain it startled me awake.
We hadn’t spoken in nearly two years. We lived 3,000 miles apart. I had no logical reason to believe she was pregnant. And yet, I knew. Not just that she was pregnant—but that it was a boy.
Weeks later, she called me. Her voice cracked with emotion. She’d just found out she was pregnant. A few months later? The ultrasound confirmed everything I saw.
That was the moment I began to question everything I thought I knew about reality.
Because if that kind of information can travel outside time, space, or biology—then what else have we misunderstood?
What if metabolism isn’t a chemical engine... but a conscious one?
Most people think metabolism is just about calories. Or maybe hormones, if they’re a little more advanced. But even that view—calories in, calories out, regulated by a hormonal thermostat—is still rooted in materialism. Still locked in a worldview where matter is primary, and consciousness is a side effect.
But what if that’s backward?
What if matter isn’t primary? What if the body isn’t just a machine running programs—but a receiver and transducer of consciousness?
What if metabolism itself is downstream of mind, meaning, and memory?
This is “quantum metabolism”—and it may be the model we’ve been waiting for.
Consciousness is the Control Tower
The body doesn’t run in isolation. It’s not just a chemical soup reacting to food and exercise. It’s an intelligent, adaptive system governed by a psycho-neuro-endocrine-immune (PNEI) network.
But here’s the kicker: the real control tower isn’t the brain.
It’s awareness.
It’s what I now call the Conscio-PNEI hierarchy: a cascade that begins not in matter, but in meaning.
Your thoughts shift your nervous system. Your emotions alter your immune function. Your beliefs sculpt your hormones. Your expectations rewire your gut, muscle tissue, mitochondria.
The way you see yourself and the world is not just mindset. It’s metabolic code.
The Science Is Already Here (We Just Haven’t Seen It Clearly)
Let’s start with Alia Crum’s milkshake study. Two groups drank the exact same milkshake. One group was told it was indulgent and high-calorie. The other was told it was healthy and low-calorie.
Guess what? The group who believed it was indulgent had a radically different ghrelin response—satiety hormones dropped more sharply, signaling fullness.
Same drink. Different belief. Different biology.
Placebo studies go even further: fake surgeries outperform real ones, sugar pills drop blood pressure, and belief alters gene expression. These aren’t flukes—they’re windows into a deeper order.
Studies on intentionality show that focused attention can influence random number generators. That people can feel when they’re being stared at, even when no sensory cues are present. That athletes who mentally rehearse movements perform better than those who don’t.
This is not fringe. This is the invisible architecture of your biology—what happens when you stop reducing the body to parts and start recognizing it as patterned energy, shaped by perception.
What Makes It Quantum?
What makes this framework “quantum” is the radical view that consciousness is not produced by the brain, but is instead the fundamental substrate of reality—a perspective advanced by physicist and inventor Federico Faggin in his recent work.
Faggin proposes that we are not merely physical beings who possess consciousness, but rather that consciousness is the irreducible ground of being, underlying all physical phenomena. According to his model, the brain does not generate consciousness; instead, it acts as a receiver and amplifier of a universal field of consciousness. This field is inherently non-local, meaning it is not bound by classical space or time, and may interact with the physical world through quantum processes such as entanglement.
From this perspective, biology—including metabolism—is not a closed chemical system, but a dynamic interface shaped by consciousness itself. Thought, memory, intention, and awareness are not just byproducts of brain activity, but may act as informational inputs that influence our cellular and physiological processes. This opens the possibility that our inner state—our awareness and beliefs—can directly affect our biology.
In this view, metabolism can be seen as a process influenced not only by chemistry, but also by the informational and intentional aspects of consciousness.
Metabolism as Meaning-Maker
Here’s the shift:
Metabolism is not just about fuel. It’s about feedback.
It reflects how you relate to yourself. To your past. To your future. To stress. To food. To your body.
If you see yourself as broken, your metabolism behaves accordingly. If you see life as threat, your body will hoard, inflame, and constrict.
But if you relate to your body as a quantum instrument—one that interprets meaning, memory, and intention—everything changes.
Metabolism becomes conscious chemistry.
The M.U.D. You Carry
Let’s go deeper.
This isn’t just about what you eat or how you move. Those are downstream.
Your metabolism is shaped by what you believe. About life. About yourself. About what’s possible.
And for most of us, that clarity is clouded by what I call M.U.D.: misguided unconscious decisions.
MUD is Misguided Unconscious Decisions—the beliefs that calcified in childhood, the grief you never gave voice to, the silent fears running your physiology.
You don’t see the world as it is. You see it through MUD. You don’t just feel stress—you interpret it through old trauma.
And this mental-emotional sludge doesn’t just sit in your mind. It metabolizes.
It becomes the lens that bathes your body in the chemistry of fear, protection, and shutdown—or of healing, possibility, and growth.
The real work isn’t optimizing your macros. It’s transmuting your MUD.
Because no matter how clean your food or consistent your workouts, if your thoughts are toxic and your identity is stuck, your biology will stay in survival.
A New Ritual for Reality
So here’s the invitation:
Not just to eat with intention. But to live with intention.
Pause before a stressful conversation. Ask: What am I believing right now?
Feel the contraction in your gut? That’s MUD speaking. Feel the tightness in your chest? That’s a distortion running the show.
You don’t need to fight it. You need to see it. Bring awareness to it. Let that be your practice.
Because when consciousness moves through MUD, it creates something new: Clarity. Coherence. Change.
Back to the Dream
That dream about my sister’s son? It was the crack in the materialist illusion.
It showed me that time, distance, and biology are not boundaries. That information doesn’t need neurons. That maybe—just maybe—consciousness isn’t something we have, but something we are.
And if that’s true, then your metabolism is listening to every signal you send: Not just through food, but through focus. Not just through action, but through awareness. Not just through biology, but through belief.
You are not just eating for energy. You are bathing your body in a signal field.
And that field—if filled with clarity, meaning, and intention—is the cure.

Way back in the spring of 2021 I read a book by Bernardo Kastrup, called Why Materialism is Baloney. In this he discusses consciousness and uses some very interesting analogies to explain it. As I read your article I couldn’t help but think of that book.
Oh Jade, I love you so! I've been following you since i bought metabolic aftershock in 2015. Back then you were my favorite fitness coach but I love how you're evolving into deeper explorations and subtler realms and funnily enough we are evolving on parallel tracks because this summer I discovered Federico Faggin and fell straight in love with his message/delivery& ideas.
